Jen Stevens

Jen Stevens is very excited to be joining Dr. Laufer’s practice. She is a pre-licensed psychotherapist with a Master’s degree from The Institute for Clinical Social Work, where she studied clinical counseling and psychotherapy. Jen has experience working with adolescents and adults with various clinical issues including depression, anxiety, disordered eating, grief, trauma, gender issues, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. Jen has previously worked in community mental health, grief clinics, school settings, and private practice.

Jen works from a psychodynamic and relational approach. She offers a safe space for her clients to develop greater awareness and understanding of their thoughts and feelings in order to live more freely. She pays close attention to how her client’s past experiences inform the way they relate to themselves and others in the present. Jen believes in creating a warm and collaborative relationship where all parts of her client’s identity can be fully explored, expressed, and deeply understood.

Jen is trained in EMDR, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy, a method that is successful in helping clients heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences. Finally, Jen is a fellow at the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy.
